① Non-excitation regulator "voltage regulation is to change the winding turns ratio of the winding by changing the high-voltage side tap of the transformer under the condition that both the primary and secondary sides of the transformer get rid of the switching power supply.

②On-load voltage regulation: Use an on-load dissolving switch to change the tap of the winding resistance of the transformer under the condition of ensuring that the load current is not disconnected to change the number of turns of the high-voltage coil to carry out voltage regulation.

It can be seen from the above that the difference between the two depends on the fact that the voltage regulator switch of the non-excitation regulator does not have the ability to change gears with load, because this type of tap switch has a short-term break during the whole process of changing gears. During the whole opening process, disconnecting the load current will cause arcing between the circuit breakers and destroy the tap changer. However, the on-load voltage regulating equipment will not be disconnected in a short time due to the connection of too many resistors in the whole process of adjusting files. During the whole process, changing from one gear to another, there will be no arcing in which the load current is disconnected. Generally used for transformers that require stringent operating voltage requirements and frequent adjustments.
